What are Arrearages?

They are unpaid or past due payments on a house, car, real estate taxes, or secured loans. These arrears can be put into a Chapter 13 to allow you to repay them in a plan payment to the Bankruptcy Court. These plans vary in length depending on your finances. But usually range between 3 to 5 years.
